FOTJC is leading a trail enhancement project in conjunction with the US Forest Service. The purpose of this project is to continue to establish a long-term trail solution for the current water-soaked “swampy” section of the historic ski trail. Current wet/soaked conditions are year-round, and especially noticeable during the ski/snow seasons.
This puncheon span will traverse two sections of trail that pass through a wetland area. The spans will each measure roughly 15 feet in length and will be 6 feet wide to meet historic ski trail standards and accommodate individuals on skis/snowboards, and snowshoes. We will grade the area with gravel and native materials to make for a smooth pass for skiers when there is snow.
Volunteers must dress for swampy conditions,
Please bring a refillable water bottle, a lunch. We will have drinking water and other FREE beverages available for all volunteers during the event.
You must wear sturdy boots, work gloves, eye protection, and long pants to participate in this event.
We recommend bringing your own lunch/snacks, refillable water bottle, and clothing for ALL KINDS OF WEATHER.
All volunteers earn a free Weekend Stay at the Tilly Jane A-Frame, Winter 2026-27 during our volunteer maintenance weekends.
