Upper Puncheon - Summer 2026

RSVP and join us for a special work party.

FOTJC is leading a trail enhancement project in conjunction with the US Forest Service.  The purpose of this project is to continue to establish a long-term trail solution for the current water-soaked “swampy” section of the historic ski trail. Current wet/soaked conditions are year-round, and especially noticeable during the ski/snow seasons.

This puncheon span will traverse two sections of trail that pass through a wetland area. The spans will each measure roughly 15 feet in length and will be 6 feet wide to meet historic ski trail standards and accommodate individuals on skis/snowboards, and snowshoes.  We will grade the area with gravel and native materials to make for a smooth pass for skiers when there is snow.

  • Volunteers must dress for swampy conditions,

  • Please bring a refillable water bottle, a lunch. We will have drinking water and other FREE beverages available for all volunteers during the event.

  • You must wear sturdy boots, work gloves, eye protection, and long pants to participate in this event.

  • We recommend bringing your own lunch/snacks, refillable water bottle, and clothing for ALL KINDS OF WEATHER.

All volunteers earn a free Weekend Stay at the Tilly Jane A-Frame, Winter 2026-27 during our volunteer maintenance weekends.
