Summer Work Party


Join THE ‘26 Summer Work Party!

Come for the day or stay and camp overnight. Both cabins will be open to volunteers to stay in or camp nearby on Friday and Saturday. Parking at the Tilly Jane Campground area is limited, so please carpool or hike if you can.

This volunteer event is focused on completing annual cabin maintenance after the winter season of rentals. No experience is needed, however, please dress for the work at hand. Small teams will work together to complete the following:

  • Rebuilding the Guard Station retaining wall and steps 

  • Replacing the Guard Station kitchen wood stove  

  • Trail Tending: cleaning up any downed trees, Pollallie (8-10 trees), and Tilly Jane (6 trees) trails

  • Bucking & Stacking downed trees for firewood and clearing debris (5 trees behind the A-Frame to address, 12 trees in the TJ Campground)

  • Cleaning: A-Frame & Guard Station interior

  • Repairing minor fixes to cabins


Where to meet

Head up to the Tilly Jane Campground and meet up at the Tilly Jane Guard Station.

Parking is limited, so please hike or carpool, directions



how to prepare

Volunteers are required to wear sturdy shoes/boots and long pants. Please dress in layers as mountain temperatures can vary (check the forecast before you head up). We recommend bringing a dust mask or bandana, hat, and eye protection, as our supplies are limited.

We will have drinking water and other FREE beverages available for all volunteers during the event.

  • You must wear sturdy boots, work gloves, eye protection, long pants, and long sleeves to participate in this event.

  • Anyone operating saws must wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, leg protection (chaps), sturdy cut-proof boots, and gloves.

  • We recommend bringing your own lunch, snacks, refillable water bottle, and clothing for ALL KINDS OF WEATHER

  • If you’re spending the night make sure to pack camping equipment, food, and additional drinking water
